Located in the heart of Markleeville, California, Cutthroat Tavern has been bringing people together since 1862. Today, we're continuing that tradition with great food, cold drinks, live music, and genuine mountain hospitality.

We're looking for friendly, hardworking, and dependable individuals who take pride in providing exceptional service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. As a Server, you'll play an essential role in delivering the Cutthroat experience, building relationships with our guests, and supporting a close-knit team in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with genuine hospitality and provide friendly, attentive service throughout their visit
• Accurately take food and beverage orders using our Toast POS system
• Serve food, beer, wine, and cocktails efficiently while maintaining high standards of presentation and service
• Develop a strong understanding of our menu, daily specials, local offerings, and beverage selections to make personalized recommendations
• Process cash and credit card transactions accurately, including managing guest checks and tips
• Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming dining areas, including tables, service stations, and outdoor seating
• Follow established food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service procedures
• Build positive relationships with our regulars while making first-time visitors feel like part of the Cutthroat family
• Work closely with bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations during busy service periods
• Assist fellow team members whenever needed, including running food, bussing tables, restocking supplies, and supporting overall restaurant operations
• Handle guest requests and concerns professionally, with a focus on creating positive experiences
• Contribute to a respectful, supportive, and team-oriented workplace where everyone pitches in to get the job done

Requirements

• Previous serving or restaurant experience preferred
• Strong customer service skills and a genuine passion for hospitality
• Friendly, dependable, and positive attitude with a willingness to work as part of a team
• Familiarity with beer, wine, cocktails, and general beverage service
• Experience with Toast POS or similar restaurant systems preferred
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain organized during high-volume service
• Basic math skills and the ability to accurately process cash and credit card transactions
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service practices
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with guests, coworkers, and management
• Willingness to assist outside of assigned responsibilities to support the success of the entire team
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with restaurant service
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and seasonal shifts based on business needs
• California Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification, or willingness to obtain required certifications
