Server

Aleko’s Village Cafe is a family-friendly Greek restaurant and carryout serving fresh, made-from-scratch Greek favorites and American Specialties. We're looking for a warm, experienced server to join our front-of-house team and help our guests feel right at home.

Position summary

Our servers deliver friendly, attentive service in the dining room while supporting a busy carryout operation. You'll take orders, serve food and drinks (including beer, wine, and liquor), answer menu questions, and keep the floor running smoothly as part of a close-knit team.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests, present menus, and take accurate food and drink orders
• Know the menu well, including Greek specialties, ingredients, and common allergens, and make recommendations
• Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly and check ID per Maryland law
• Enter orders in the POS system and handle payments, cash, and tip-outs accurately
• Take phone and walk-in carryout orders when needed and check them before handoff
• Check on tables regularly and resolve guest concerns quickly and politely
• Keep the dining room, bar, server stations, and carryout counter clean, stocked, and organized
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines
• Complete opening, closing, and side work duties
• Work as a team with kitchen staff, host, bartender, cashier, and fellow servers during busy shifts

Skills

• Friendly, attentive, and patient attitude
• At least 1 year of serving experience in a restaurant
• Must be 18 or older to serve alcohol
• Valid Alcohol Awareness certification recognized in Frederick County, or willingness to complete training within 2 months of your start date
• Friendly, professional attitude and strong communication skills
• Able to multitask and stay calm during busy dine-in service
• Must be available Fridays and Saturdays, evenings, and some holidays as scheduled
• Basic math skills; ability to handle cash and POS.

Nice to have

• Experience with Greek or Mediterranean cuisine
• Familiarity with POS systems, especially Square

Physical demands

• Stand and walk for full shifts
• Carry trays and lift up to 25 lbs

Pay: $4.00 - $6.00 per hour
