Server — Okonori Japanese High Kitchen

Okonori Japanese High Kitchen is a fine dining omakase restaurant in Carmel. We are hiring a server to care for guests in a dining room held to the same standard as our omakase counter, with a menu built around seasonal Japanese cuisine, sake, whisky, and house cocktails.

What you'll do

• Guide guests through the menu, including the omakase, seasonal dishes, and beverage pairings, with accurate knowledge of ingredients, preparation, and allergens
• Take and enter orders precisely, and pace courses in coordination with the kitchen and sushi counter
• Serve food, sake, wine, and cocktails to Okonori's standards of timing, presentation, and tableside etiquette
• Anticipate guest needs and read the table: attentive without intruding, polished without being stiff
• Keep your section, side stations, and service ware clean, stocked, and organized, and complete opening, closing, and downtime checklists
• Communicate clearly with hosts, bartenders, and kitchen throughout service, and support teammates across the floor
• Follow all Indiana alcohol service laws and check identification consistently

What we're looking for

• Prior serving experience in a full-service restaurant; fine dining experience strongly preferred
• Strong menu memory and attention to detail. Interest in Japanese cuisine, sake, and whisky is a plus, and we will train
• Reliable attendance and punctuality; this is a small team where every shift matters
• Composed, polished, and attentive with guests, with clear speech, professional presence, and no shortcuts on hospitality
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods and carry trays and service ware up to 50 lbs
• Valid Indiana alcohol server permit (or ability to obtain one before your first shift)
• Open availability preferred, including weekends and holidays

Schedule

Lunch service runs 12:00–2:30 PM and dinner service 4:30–9:30 PM on weekdays. We are open from 12:00-11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Shifts are scheduled around both services, and weekend availability is required.
