Server - Rooftop Restaurant Santa Monica

The Huntley is looking for a warm, professional, and service-driven Server to join our Food & Beverage team. We are seeking individuals who bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for hospitality.

Position Summary

As a Server, you will play an essential role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for every guest. You will greet guests, guide them through the menu, take accurate food and beverage orders, and provide attentive service from arrival through departure.

The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining professionalism and composure.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests promptly and provide friendly, courteous, and professional service.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter or communicate them clearly to the appropriate team members.
• Deliver food and beverages in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy, quality, and presentation standards.
• Anticipate guest needs and remain attentive throughout the dining experience.
• Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, recipes, daily specials, and beverage offerings.
• Make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences and menu knowledge.
• Accommodate special requests whenever possible and communicate guest needs clearly to the kitchen and service team.
• Maintain established service standards and contribute to a smooth, enjoyable guest experience.
• Complete opening, closing, cleaning, restocking, and side-work duties as assigned.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in dining areas, service stations, and kitchen service areas.
• Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and food-handling guidelines.
• Accurately manage guest checks and follow all established check-control procedures.
• Process payments correctly and follow standard cash-handling procedures.
• Attend pre-shift, pre-meal, and departmental meetings to stay informed about service expectations, menu updates, and property information.
• Respond to guest questions, comments, and concerns with professionalism and a guest-first mindset.
• Maintain a polished, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
• Work collaboratively with servers, bartenders, hosts, bussers, kitchen staff, supervisors, and management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of previous server or similar restaurant experience.
• Strong customer service and hospitality skills.
• Basic knowledge of restaurant service, food and beverage operations, and kitchen communication.
• Familiarity with standard cash-handling and payment procedures.
• Ability to learn and retain menu knowledge, daily specials, ingredients, and service standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in spoken and written English.
• Ability to read guest checks, POS information, written instructions, service notes, and special requests.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Dependable, punctual, team-oriented, and eager to learn.
• Professional appearance and a friendly, courteous demeanor are required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
• Ability to bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, carry, and handle items throughout the shift.
• Full range of mobility required, including the ability to move throughout the restaurant regularly during the shift.
• Must have sufficient hearing to communicate with guests, supervisors, and team members in a busy restaurant environment.
• Ability to perform multiple physical and service-related tasks throughout the shift.
