Server (with Bar Knowledge)

Job Summary
We are seeking a personable, detail-oriented Server with Bar Knowledge to join the team at Eivan Restaurant & Bar, a modern Persian-inspired restaurant on Lonsdale in North Vancouver.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment and takes pride in creating thoughtful guest experiences.
You will use your knowledge of food, cocktails, service standards, and POS systems to support both the dining room and the bar. This role involves strong teamwork, multitasking, and a commitment to upholding Eivan’s service policies and guest experience standards.

Duties

• Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, polished service at all times
• Take accurate food and beverage orders using Clover POS and manage reservations/seating through OpenTable
• Upsell menu items, cocktails, specials, and desserts to enhance guest experience and increase sales
• Serve food and drinks efficiently while maintaining proper food handling and sanitation standards
• Assist with basic bar service: preparing simple cocktails, pouring drinks, and supporting the bartender during peak hours
• Manage takeout and delivery orders with accuracy and urgency, ensuring packaging, timing, and guest communication are smooth
• Maintain a clean, organized section including tables, bar area, and service stations
• Bus tables and help reset the dining room as needed
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders
• Follow Eivan’s Guest Service Guide and FOH Policies, including steps of service, table maintenance, and alcohol service standards
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items, cocktails, and wine pairings
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately through Clover POS

Requirements

• Previous serving experience in a restaurant or bar environment
• Familiarity with Clover POS and OpenTable is an asset
• Strong customer service skills with a hospitable, guest-first mindset
• Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods
• Experience with upselling techniques (drinks, specials, desserts)
• Basic bartending knowledge: pouring standards, shaking, garnishes
• Professional appearance, excellent communication, and a positive attitude
• Ability to handle cash, bill splitting, and order accuracy
• Knowledge of food handling, sanitation standards, and service best practices
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and busy holiday periods
• Previous experience as a server, barback, host/hostess, or busser is an advantage
• Serving It Right required
• Fluent in Persian (Farsi) is required
