What they need

Service advisor / assistant manager

Location: Motorfix Autocentre, Highbridge, SomersetSalary: £28,000–£35,000 per year, depending on experience + performance bonus

Join one of Somerset’s leading independent garages

Motorfix Autocentre is a modern, fast-growing independent garage based in Highbridge, Somerset. Established for over 12 years, we’ve built a strong reputation for exceptional customer service, advanced diagnostics and high-quality workmanship.

We’re proud to operate a fully digital workshop using Techman, invest in the latest equipment and technology, and offer a wide range of services including servicing, MOTs, diagnostics, repairs, EV & Hybrid maintenance and air conditioning.

As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced, confident and organised service advisor / assistant manager to join our team.

This is more than an Service Advisor role.

We are looking for someone who wants to develop their career within the motor trade and has the ambition to progress into a Workshop Manager position.

The successful candidate will work closely with our current Workshop Manager, learning the business and gradually taking on additional responsibility. As the business grows and develops, there will be a genuine opportunity for the right person to progress into a manager role.

This is a key position within the business, helping to keep our busy workshop running efficiently while delivering first-class customer service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Answering customer telephone calls and emails
  • Booking MOTs, servicing and repair work
  • Welcoming customers and checking vehicles in and out
  • Keeping customers updated on the progress of their vehicles
  • Preparing estimates and obtaining customer authorisation
  • Ordering parts and liaising with suppliers
  • Raising invoices and processing payments
  • Creating and managing job cards using our workshop management system
  • Supporting the Workshop Manager with the day-to-day running of the workshop
  • Helping ensure technicians have a smooth and continuous workflow
  • Monitoring jobs, parts and customer authorisations
  • Helping resolve customer queries and issues
  • Maintaining excellent customer satisfaction and online reviews

Who we’re looking for

Previous motor-trade experience is essential.

We’re looking for someone who already understands how a busy independent workshop operates.

Previous experience as a:

  • Service Advisor
  • Senior Service Advisor
  • Workshop Controller
  • Parts Advisor
  • Workshop Administrator
  • or similar motor-trade role

would be highly advantageous.

Previous management experience is desirable but not essential.

We’re more interested in someone with the right attitude, strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the ambition to develop into a management position.

The ideal candidate will already understand:

  • Workshop terminology
  • Customer service
  • Repair authorisation
  • Parts ordering
  • Job scheduling
  • The importance of keeping technicians productive
  • The pressures of a busy workshop
  • The importance of maintaining a consistent workflow

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Is highly organised and able to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Remains calm and professional under pressure
  • Is confident using computers and learning new systems
  • Has a professional and friendly telephone manner
  • Has good commercial awareness
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Is confident dealing with both customers and technicians
  • Has the ambition to develop into a management role
  • Has a full UK driving licence

What we offer

  • £28,000–£35,000 salary, depending on experience
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Company pension
  • Paid holiday
  • Employee discount
  • Ongoing training and career development
  • Modern, fully equipped digital workshop and office environment
  • Friendly, supportive and experienced team
  • Secure full-time position with an established and growing business
  • Genuine opportunity to progress into a Workshop Manager role
  • Opportunity to develop further as the business continues to expand

A genuine career opportunity

This isn’t simply a job answering phones and booking cars.

We’re looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the future of Motorfix.

You’ll initially work alongside our current Workshop Manager and take responsibility for customer service, bookings, estimates, parts and workshop administration. As your knowledge and confidence develop, you’ll gradually take on more responsibility for workshop workflow, staff, customers and the commercial performance of the site.

For the right person, this could ultimately lead to running a busy Motorfix workshop as the business expands.

If you’re already working in the motor trade and are looking for your next step, with the opportunity to develop into management rather than simply doing the same role somewhere else, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply

Please send your CV and a short covering email explaining your current role, your motor-trade experience and why you believe you have the potential to progress into a management position with Motorfix.

Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Employee discount
  • On-site parking
