Service Advisor / Automotive Technical Advisor

About the role

Working alongside the Office Manager and workshop team, this is a hands-on support role for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys working with customers, helping technicians and making sure jobs move smoothly. You will become an important link between the office and workshop team.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting with quoting and estimating larger and more complex mechanical jobs
• Using mechanical knowledge to identify additional repairs and maintenance requirements
• Explaining mechanical issues and recommended repairs to customers in a clear and professional manner
• Supporting technicians with technical advice and assistance when required
• Helping technicians diagnose and work through more difficult jobs
• Reviewing technician findings and helping determine the best repair approach
• Assisting with job allocation and workshop workflow
• Checking jobs are progressing efficiently and helping keep technicians productive
• Assisting with parts identification and communicating parts requirements to the office manager
• Providing guidance and support to apprentices

About you

• Has a strong mechanical background and industry experience
• Has excellent knowledge of vehicle systems, repairs and servicing
• Can confidently assess and quote larger mechanical repairs
• Can read and understand technician findings and translate them into clear customer recommendations
• Has excellent communication and customer service skills
• Is confident speaking with customers and explaining technical information
• Can provide practical support and guidance to technicians
• Has strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Can prioritise jobs and help keep a busy workshop running efficiently
• Is comfortable using workshop/job management software and computers
