Service Advisor / Writer

Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive service and repair, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and technicians alike. As a Service Writer, you will play a crucial role in managing service requests, providing estimates, and ensuring customer satisfaction through excellent service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assess their automotive service needs.
• Prepare detailed service estimates based on customer requests and vehicle diagnostics.
• Collaborate with service technicians to ensure accurate understanding of repairs needed.
• Upsell additional services and products based on customer needs and vehicle condition.
• Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
• Provide clear communication to customers regarding repair timelines and costs.
• Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate billing records.
• Ensure that all work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Stay updated on automotive trends, technologies, and dealership practices.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a dealership or auto service environment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive diagnostics and repair.
• Familiarity with vehicle maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake repairs, alignments, and tire services.
• Experience with various automotive systems including transmissions, air brakes, suspension, shocks & struts, diesel engine repair, and auto body repair is advantageous.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers.
• Proficiency in auto estimating and service writing practices.
• Sales experience is a plus, particularly in an automotive context.
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
