What they need

Multi-Skilled Service, Installation & Commissioning Engineer

UK & Overseas Travel | Food Processing Machinery | Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

Are you a multi-skilled Service Engineer with a background in mechanical and electrical engineering? An established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for a hands-on Service, Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join its team, supporting customers across the UK and overseas.

This is an exciting and varied opportunity to work with specialist food processing machinery, carrying out installations, commissioning, servicing and breakdown repairs. The role would suit an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, customer interaction and working in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for installing, commissioning and servicing a range of food processing equipment at customer sites throughout the UK and overseas. You will diagnose and resolve machinery breakdowns, provide technical support to customers and work proactively to minimise equipment downtime.

When not working on site, you may assist with the repair, refurbishment and preparation of machinery for resale or customer requirements.

A good understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems is highly desirable. Experience with PLCs and HMIs would be advantageous, although training can be provided for candidates looking to develop their skills in this area.

You will be expected to maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism, building positive relationships with customers and colleagues alike. Flexibility is essential, as the role may involve working outside standard hours, including nights, weekends and participation in a shared Christmas breakdown cover rota.

About You

You will ideally have a multi-skilled engineering background, with practical experience in machinery installation, commissioning, maintenance or breakdown servicing. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills would be a significant advantage, alongside a professional approach to customer service and a willingness to travel both nationally and internationally.

City & Guilds engineering qualifications or a recognised engineering apprenticeship would be beneficial. PLC/HMI knowledge is desirable but not essential, as further training can be provided.

You should be adaptable, self-motivated and comfortable working independently at customer sites, with a focus on resolving technical issues efficiently and delivering excellent customer service.

Working Hours

The standard working week is 39 hours, Monday to Friday. Additional flexibility will be required to support customer installations, commissioning projects and breakdown call-outs, including occasional nights, weekends and holiday-period cover.
