Work with purpose. Support positive outcomes. Make a difference.

We are looking for a compassionate, organised, and motivated Service Coordinator to join our Forensic Coordination Service – Intellectual Disability team in our Christchurch and Porirua offices.

About Us

The Forensic Coordination Service – Intellectual Disability coordinates the safe management of tāngata whaikaha within the High and Complex Framework. The High and Complex Framework provides a pathway for offenders with an intellectual disability away from the criminal justice and mental health systems towards more appropriate disability services.

About the Role

This role sits within a specialist service supporting tāngata whaikaha with intellectual disabilities who are involved in the High and Complex Framework.

You will work alongside disabled people, families and whānau, courts, government agencies, health professionals, and service providers to coordinate services that support positive life outcomes while ensuring rights, safety, and aspirations remain central.

This is a varied role combining relationship-building, coordination, assessment, report writing, problem-solving, and interagency collaboration.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Service Coordinator, you will:

  • Complete needs assessments and reviews alongside tāngata whaikaha, families and whānau
  • Coordinate services and supports that align with assessed needs and rehabilitation plans
  • Work collaboratively with providers, government agencies, and health professionals
  • Prepare reports, maintain accurate documentation, and manage statutory requirements
  • Support planning, reviews, and transitions across services
  • Advocate for person-directed approaches that reflect people’s goals and aspirations

This role combines relationship-building, coordination, administration, problem-solving, and community engagement.

About You

You may already work within disability, health, social services, or case management—or bring lived experience and transferable skills.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working with disabled people and/or the disability sector
  • Knowledge of service coordination or case management is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • Confidence using technology and writing reports/documentation
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice

What You’ll Need

  • Relevant qualification and/or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation is advantageous
  • Full New Zealand driver licence
  • Ability to occasionally be on-call and travel for work
  • Ability to obtain a satisfactory Children’s Worker Check

What We Value

We are looking for people who demonstrate:

Integrity | Inclusion | Innovation

You’ll be someone who values collaboration, embraces diversity, builds strong relationships, and approaches challenges with empathy and professionalism.

Why Join Us?

  • Meaningful work that creates positive change
  • Full training and ongoing development opportunities
  • Supportive and values-driven team environment
  • Opportunity to work across health, disability, and justice sectors
  • A role where no two days are the same
