About the role
Reporting to the General Manager and based in Mangere, you will oversee three highly skilled technicians while coordinating contractors, customers and overseas manufacturers. Working with customers across the industrial, quarrying, mining and recycling sectors, you will manage breakdowns, technical issues, commissiong and warranty claims, ensuring a fast, practical response where equipment downtime can have significant cost implications. This is a customer-focused role requiring strong technical judgement, commercial awareness and a sense of urgency. Ideally, you will have similar after-sales or service management experience within the heavy equipment industry.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and optimize field service scheduling, prioritization and technician utilization.
- Drive service delivery, customer satisfaction and commercial performance.
- Provide technical guidance and first-line support to customers.
- Manage warranty claims in accordance with OEM requirements.
- Ensure accurate, timely invoicing and maximize service revenue opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
- Coordinate equipment commissioning, handover and customer training.
- Identify opportunities to improve service efficiency, response times and customer retention.
- Comfortable working across international time zones and engaging directly with OEMs when required to resolve issues quickly.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in after-sales, service management, warranty, or a similar technical environment, ideally within heavy equipment.
- Strong leadership capability, with a proven ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with a genuine commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to think creatively and make decisive decisions when equipment downtime has significant cost implications.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple issues effectively.
- Strong commercial acumen, recognising that exceptional after-sales service drives customer retention, future equipment sales, and long-term business growth.
