What they need
About us:
Established in 1982, Chain and Rigging Supplies is a New Zealand family-owned business suppling quality lifting equipment, rigging, commercial hardware and lifting chains to the construction, infrastructure, marine and transport sectors.
We source premium hardware and lifting equipment from trusted global suppliers, ensuring our products meet applicable New Zealand and International standards for quality and safety. Alongside our distribution network, we provide professional testing, inspection and certification services throughout Auckland and the upper North Island.
The role:
We’re looking for a practical, hands-on person who is ready for a career change as a Service Technician. Advanced Scaffolders and experienced Dogmen would be well suited for the role, but we also welcome anyone with practical experience, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
You will spend most of your time on the road in a fully equipped mobile test workshop, inspecting, repairing and testing customer’s lifting and height safety equipment to ensure it remains safe and compliant.
What you’ll do:
- Inspect, repair and test lifting gear and height safety equipment, both in-house and on-site
- Assemble and repair lifting equipment and replacement equipment when required
- Work closely with Account Managers to schedule jobs, communicate inspection results and identify sales opportunities to meet customer’s needs.
- Record jobs in our CORE Inspection software & process them in our accounting system (full training will be provided)
- Respond to customer enquiries, providing knowledgeable, high-quality advice and service
- Support the wider team as required
What we are looking for:
Ideally, you’ll have:
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work safely and independently - unsupervised
- Previous experience as a Mobile Technician in a similar industry (preferrable) and/or a background in testing, quality assurance, or compliance
- LEEA Certification – advantageous but not essential
- Experience with lifting gear would be handy, although we’ll train the right person
- Strong mechanical aptitude & practical problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proven ability to build positive relationship with customers
- The physical capability to lift and handle heavy chains, lifting gear, and safety equipment up to 20kgs
- Basic computer skills with the ability to confidently enter data into databases
- A current clean NZ driver’s licence – and be happy to travel the region
We offer:
- Fully equipped mobile workshop with all tools supplied
- Great supporting team, steady work
- Ongoing training and development to keep your skills sharp
If you’re practical, proactive, like working with your hands, enjoy variety, and want a role that’s more than just a workshop job – apply now.
Other offers great for you!
