Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Service Technician to join our team. The Service Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining equipment and machinery while providing excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and technical skills, can diagnose problems efficiently, and is comfortable working independently in a variety of environments. This position requires hands-on experience with tools and equipment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, products, and machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and replace defective, damaged, or worn components.
• Respond to customer service calls and accurately assess equipment issues based on customer descriptions.
• Explain equipment operation and provide customers with clear instructions on proper use and maintenance.
• Service and repair a variety of equipment, including heavy equipment, farm and industrial machinery, diesel engines, and related systems.
• Promote company services and maintain positive relationships with customers.
• Maintain accurate knowledge of industry equipment, tools, technology, and repair procedures.
• Work safely and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
• Operate an overhead crane and forklift as needed.
• Drive tractor-trailer combinations into and out of parking areas when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous experience as a service technician, mechanic, or in a similar technical/mechanical role preferred.
• Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while maintaining quality workmanship.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems based on customers' non-technical descriptions.
• Working knowledge of 12V and 120/240V electrical systems preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of tools and equipment commonly used in the industry.
• Must provide and maintain your own tools; required tool list will be provided by Sierra Truck Body and Equipment.
• Ability to work patiently and thoroughly on service calls without sacrificing quality for speed.
• Ability to safely lift and move heavy equipment and components.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and frequently bend, kneel, reach, and perform other physical tasks.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Ability to safely operate an overhead crane.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to safely maneuver a tractor-trailer into and out of parking areas.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
