What they need

Service Technician – Commercial Food Equipment

$45–$55 per hour | Company vehicle | Optional overtime

Compliant Gas & Electrical is looking for a qualified electrical technician to join our growing service team across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and surrounding areas.

We specialise in servicing, repairing and installing commercial refrigeration, cooking, food preparation and warewashing equipment. Our customers include restaurants, pubs, hotels, aged care facilities, hospitals, production kitchens and other commercial sites.

Commercial food equipment experience would be highly regarded, but it is not essential. If you have strong electrical fault-finding skills and the right attitude, we can provide the equipment and manufacturer training.

A service company built for technicians

Compliant Gas & Electrical is not an equipment sales company.

We do not employ technicians simply to support a sales department. Our technicians and the work they perform are the core of our business.

As our Managing Director puts it:

“I didn’t build Compliant Gas & Electrical to sell equipment. I built it to support the people who keep equipment running.”

We want technicians who take pride in their work, enjoy solving problems and want to continue developing their skills.

What we offer

  • $45–$55 per hour, depending on qualifications, skills and experience
  • Full-time permanent employment
  • Optional overtime for technicians who want additional hours
  • Participation in the after-hours on-call roster – one in 4-5 week roster
  • Minimum four-hour payment at double time for every after-hours callout
  • Fully equipped company vehicle with personal use available
  • Company expense card covering fuel, tolls and work-related parking
  • Company phone or a $15 weekly phone allowance
  • Paid day off for your birthday each year
  • Flexible start and finish arrangements where operationally possible
  • Start from home and travel directly to your first job
  • Full uniform, work boots and PPE supplied
  • Ongoing manufacturer and product training
  • Support to obtain additional qualifications, including Type A gas servicing
  • Practical support from experienced senior technicians, management and our office team
  • Modern job-management systems and a dedicated scheduling team
  • A variety of service, repair and installation work
  • Regular team events
  • Long-term employment with opportunities to develop and progress

The work

Your day will involve diagnosing faults, repairing equipment, completing preventative maintenance and carrying out installations across commercial customer sites.

You may work on equipment such as:

  • Commercial ovens and combi ovens
  • Dishwashers and glasswashers
  • Fryers, cooktops and other commercial cooking equipment
  • Food preparation equipment
  • Electrical and gas-operated catering appliances

You will manage your own workday in the field, with jobs scheduled and supported by our office team. You will not be left chasing customers, arranging your own bookings or trying to manage everything by yourself.

What we are looking for

You will need:

  • A current Queensland driver licence
  • A suitable Queensland electrical licence, such as Electrical Fitter/Mechanic, Electrician or a restricted electrical licence suitable for appliance servicing
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to complete accurate job notes and service records
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • A construction white card
  • The ability to obtain a satisfactory police check, as we regularly work in aged care and similar environments

A Type A Gas Servicing licence would be an advantage but is not essential. We are prepared to support and pay for suitable technicians to complete this training.

Who this role would suit

This position would suit an electrician, electrical fitter or appliance repair technician who:

  • Enjoys fault-finding and hands-on technical work
  • Wants more variety than standard electrical installation work
  • Takes responsibility for the quality of their work
  • Communicates properly with customers and other team members
  • Wants to keep learning and developing
  • Values working independently without being micromanaged
  • Wants the backing of an experienced technical and office team
