Service Technician

About the Role​

Alliant Scientific is seeking skilled individuals to be trained in repair of various analytical instrumentation. You will be trained in testing and repairing analytical instruments such as chromatographs and spectrometers—it is a field with enormous growth potential. While no prior experience on scientific instruments is required, any prior repair and troubleshooting experience is highly desired.

Key Responsibilities as the Training Takes Place

• Test, re-configure, and refurbish variety of analytical instrumentation
• Deliver remote customer support via email, phone, and video chat from our Poway, CA office
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues
• Repair and replace faulty components/parts as needed
• Travel to customer locations for installations, repairs, and service calls
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation for each job, logged in the CRM
• Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Provide customer training ∙Support Sales and Marketing teams with technical inquiries
• Maintain a strong commitment to quality on every job performed
• Complete written service reports (work orders) for all completed work
• Ensure timely order completion, including meeting deadlines on rush orders
• Stay current on new instruments, technologies, and manufacturer updates
• Bring a can-do attitude to every task
• Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO

Required Qualifications

• Ability to utilize tools
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, and accountability
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules or conditions, and meet deadlines on rush orders
• Willingness to travel as needed
• Good understanding of computer systems; being able setup up computers
• This role requires standing up for extended hours and lifting heavy equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous repair and troubleshooting experience on any electro-mechanical products such as computers, consumer electronics etc.
• Familiarity with electronics

Work Conditions​

• Expect a mix of environments — from standard office settings to industrial labs and active process facilities.
• This role is based out of the shop rather than full-time remote fieldwork, though it does involve travel to world-wide destinations.

Pay: $26.04 - $31.35 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
