What they need
Service Technician – HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical
Art of Comfort Services
Location: Pleasanton / Tri-Valley / San Jose
Pay: $25-$35 per hour
Job type: Full-time
About the role
Art of Comfort Services is hiring a Service Technician to perform residential service and preventative maintenance across our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companies.
You will take ownership of each service call, from understanding the homeowner’s concerns and diagnosing the issue to completing approved work and documenting the results. You will also identify legitimate repair, replacement, and maintenance membership opportunities and explain the options clearly so customers can make informed decisions.
This role combines hands-on technical work with customer service. You will report to the Field Supervisor and perform work within your training, qualifications, and required licensing or certifications, coordinating with trade specialists when needed.
What you’ll do
- Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and approved repairs on residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems within your authorized scope.
- Diagnose problems accurately, explain your findings, and recommend solutions based on the customer’s needs and the condition of the equipment.
- Complete quality repairs, verify proper operation, and minimize avoidable return visits and callbacks.
- Explain the value of ongoing maintenance and help homeowners enroll in maintenance memberships.
- Keep customers informed throughout the visit, respect their property, and leave the work area clean.
- Complete same-day documentation, and present clear findings including diagnosis notes, inspection findings, photos, quotes, customer approvals, invoices, and system condition reports.
- Coordinate with the Field Supervisor, dispatch, and the appropriate trade team when a job requires additional expertise, parts, or follow-up.
- Identify and promptly escalate safety-critical conditions, including gas leaks, electrical hazards, and potential carbon monoxide risks, following company safety procedures.
- Work toward individual service, production, and sales goals while maintaining honest recommendations and quality workmanship.
- Deliver service that earns positive customer feedback and follow company guidelines and platform policies for reviews.
What we’re looking for
- Residential service or maintenance experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or a combination of these trades. HVAC preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the judgment to recognize when a job requires a specialist.
- An interest in working across all three trades and expanding your technical knowledge.
- The ability to explain technical findings and pricing in plain language without pressuring customers.
- Comfort presenting service options, discussing maintenance memberships, and working toward performance goals.
- Reliable follow-through, professional communication, and careful attention to documentation.
- Confidence using mobile tools or field-service software to record work, prepare estimates, and complete invoices.
- A consistent commitment to safe work practices and working within applicable qualifications and authorizations.
Experience across multiple trades, relevant certifications, and familiarity with ServiceTitan are preferred.
How success is measured
We evaluate performance on both the quality of your work and the results of your service calls, including:
- Accurate diagnosis, completed repairs, and low callback rates.
- Revenue, average ticket, and close rate by job type.
- Maintenance membership enrollments and appropriate repair or replacement conversions.
- Customer satisfaction and positive feedback.
- Complete, accurate, same-day documentation.
- Consistent compliance with safety procedures.

Apply through Indeed with your resume and a brief overview of your HVAC, plumbing, and electrical experience. Include any relevant licenses or certifications. We look forward to hearing from you.
