What they need
At Burwell Material Handling, people come first. Our team, our customers, and the communities we serve are the reason we exist. We're who we are today because of the people behind us. Every team member, every connection, and every customer relationship helped shape this company.
We've built our reputation by delivering smarter, safer material handling across the full lifecycle: equipment sales, rentals, service and parts, fleet telematics, and engineered automation solutions. We do it with the kind of personal attention that comes from being neither too big to care nor too small to keep up. We listen first, we move fast, and we keep our word.
We’re growing, and we’re looking for forward-thinking, motivated teammates who want to help build something meaningful—where your contributions count, and your voice is heard.
About the Role:
We’re hiring a Forklift Service Technician with solid mechanical experience—especially with forklifts, aerial lifts, pallet jacks, and diesel or electric-powered equipment. If you’re after consistent, hands-on work where your knowledge and experience matter and you have a desire to grow your career, we want to hear from you! You will handle repairs to well-known material handling brands, solve deep mechanical problems, and work with a reliable team that is proud of their work and the relationships they build with each other and with customers.
What You’ll Do:
- Diagnose and repair forklifts (electric, gas, diesel, propane) and aerial lifts like boom lifts, scissor lifts, and telehandlers
- Work with leading brands like Hyundai, Bobcat, Clark, Genie, JLG, and Skyjack (depending on branch availability)
- Handle mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system repairs
- Stay current with OEM updates, service bulletins, and equipment upgrades
- Recommend planned maintenance and safety programs to reduce customer downtime
- Mentor junior technicians and help create a team-first environment
- Keep your tools, workspace, and service vehicle organized and stocked
- Load and unload equipment when needed
- Always prioritize safety by using PPE and following company protocols
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience working on forklifts, aerial lifts, or other heavy equipment (engines, hydraulics, electrical systems)
- Familiarity with leading brands like Hyundai, Bobcat, Clark, Genie, JLG, and Skyjack
- Experience reading technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Skilled with diagnostic tools, software, and repair equipment like multimeters and pressure gauges
- Great communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform hands-on work
- Degree or certification in Diesel Technology or similar (preferred)
- Experience with battery-powered equipment and charging systems is a bonus!
Benefits:
All offers are contingent on passing a pre-employment drug test and background check. Burwell Material Handling is a drug-free workplace.
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Excellent benefits – Medical, Dental, Vision, Accident, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and 401K with Company Match
- Progressive Paid Time Off and Holidays – starting with 3 weeks PTO in your first year
- Paid parental leave for moms and dads
- Opportunities for growth and internal promotion
- Annual Community Impact Day – paid volunteer time in the places we work and live
Our goal is to improve the quality of work life by using fair and consistent treatment and providing equal growth opportunities for all team members. Burwell Material Handling is an equal opportunity employer as defined by federal, state or local laws.
If you're looking to build a meaningful career, we’re excited to support your goals and help you grow with us.
