About the role

Youngman Richardson is seeking a Service Technician to join our growing, energetic workshop team in Christchurch. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills whilst providing essential support to our customers. As a Service Technician, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality service and maintenance solutions, ensuring our customers receive prompt and professional support. This role is crucial to maintaining our reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction in the Christchurch region.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Responding to service calls and customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Diagnosing technical faults using appropriate testing equipment and troubleshooting procedures
• Documenting all service work completed, including parts used and time spent on each job
• Providing customers with clear explanations of work completed and advice on equipment maintenance and care
• Collaborating with the team to share knowledge and support colleagues on complex technical issues
• Maintaining and organising service tools and equipment to ensure they are in proper working order
• Adhering to all health, safety and company policies whilst on customer premises and at our facilities

What we're looking for

• A recognised trade qualification, ideally a Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering - Plant & Equipment (Level 3-4)

• Proven experience working as a service technician or in a similar technical role within the trades and services industry

• Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers in an accessible manner

• A professional and customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering quality workmanship

• Full clean driving licence

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing your time effectively

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate service records and documentation

• Preferred: Experience with diagnostic equipment and familiarity with Health and Safety at Work regulations
