Overview

We are seeking an experienced and professional Service Writer to join our team at A&N Diesel. The ideal candidate will have prior service writing experience, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of automotive or diesel repair operations. This role requires the ability to manage repair workflow, communicate clearly with customers, and support efficient shop operations.

Duties

• Communicate with customers to understand and document service needs
• Schedule service appointments and manage repair workflow
• Prepare and present accurate repair estimates and recommendations
• Order, track, and verify parts needed for repairs
• Coordinate directly with technicians to ensure timely job progression
• Maintain detailed notes and service records using our shop management system (Shopmonkey)
• Provide status updates to customers throughout the repair process
• Close repair orders, process payments, and finalize invoices
• Assist in promoting recommended maintenance and service options

Experience Required Skills

• Previous Service Writer / Service Advisor experience
• Knowledge of diesel or automotive service operations and terminology
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to organize workload and manage multiple active jobs
• Accurate and professional estimate writing
• Ability to process payments and handle invoice documentation
• Comfortable using service/estimate software (Shopmonkey experience is a plus)

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with diesel platforms including light-duty and heavy-duty trucks
• Ability to understand or quickly learn heavy-duty systems and repair requirements
• Basic mechanical knowledge to support clear explanations to customers and accurate estimating

Compensation & Schedule

• $20–$32/hr based on experience
• Performance-based bonus opportunities
