What they need
We are Waikato Waters
Our wai connects us all – from our awa, and moana, to the communities we call home. We’re building something new in the Waikato – and we’re looking for the best in the industry.
Waikato Waters is a new water business that will deliver drinking water and wastewater services to our communities across the region. You can learn more about us here: www.waikatowaters.co.nz
Why this role matters now
Waikato Waters is now operating as the region’s water services organisation, delivering drinking water and wastewater services across our communities. As our networks continue to transfer and settle into day-to-day operations, reliable field delivery is essential to keeping services safe, responsive and fit for purpose.
As a Serviceperson - Network, you’ll help maintain, repair and renew the drinking water and wastewater networks our communities rely on every day. Your work will support safe, reliable services, timely responses to faults and customer requests, and the long-term care of critical infrastructure across the Waikato.
In this role, your contribution and key accountabilities include:
- Maintaining, repairing and renewing drinking water and wastewater network assets, including mains, service connections, valves, hydrants, meters, sewer mains and laterals.
- Responding to leaks, wastewater blockages, overflows and other network faults safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to customers.
- Completing work orders, asset updates and maintenance records accurately using approved mobile work management systems.
- Supporting planned maintenance, renewals, emergency response and after-hours call-out activities to help keep essential services running.
The experience you’ll bring
- A trade qualification or equivalent practical experience in drinking water supply, wastewater, civil construction, utilities or a related field.
- Experience maintaining or constructing underground networks or similar infrastructure.
- A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence, with appropriate class endorsements desirable.
- Sound awareness of safe excavation, confined space, traffic management and underground utility work, or willingness to obtain relevant training.
- A practical, customer-focused approach, strong problem-solving skills and confidence using mobile technology to record work and asset information.
We are less interested in tenure and more interested in relevant experience, how you excel in your job, work with others, and the enthusiasm you bring to our kaupapa (purpose).
Why join us?
This isn’t just another job. It’s a unique chance to help build a modern water utility from the ground up – being part of work that matters to thousands of people every day and will serve generations of Waikato families and businesses for years to come.
We offer competitive pay, health insurance and a great culture.
If you want to help build something exceptional – we’d like to hear from you.
