Advanced Vehicle Assemblies (AVA) is seeking an Assembly Set-Up Operator for our Milan, Michigan facility. Our Milan operation supports customers and company plants across North America, including locations in Michigan and Monterrey, Mexico.

In this essential manufacturing role, you will prepare and service assembly equipment, ensure operators have the materials and components they need, and help minimize downtime while maximizing safety, quality, and efficiency.

What You Will Do

· Perform tool changes, fixture changes, part changeovers, and equipment adjustments.

· Deliver required materials and components before each set-up is completed.

· Follow written set-up instructions and quality requirements.

· Complete set-up documentation, job tickets, and scrap records accurately.

· Inspect first-piece production to confirm compliance with quality specifications.

· Identify equipment or fixture issues and request maintenance support.

· Assist maintenance and toolroom personnel as needed.

· Maintain a clean, organized work area and remove unnecessary set-up materials.

· Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and respond to out-of-control conditions.

· Support and train team members as experience develops.

· Perform other duties assigned by the area supervisor.

What You Bring

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Technical training in mechanical technology or welding preferred.

· Two to five years of manufacturing experience, with emphasis on welding, assembly machinery, or quality control.

· Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and blueprint reading.

· Ability to use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring instruments.

· Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills.

· Ability to work effectively with limited supervision and manage competing priorities.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

· Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive-motion activities.

· Ability to walk, squat, bend, and regularly lift up to 30 pounds.

· Good vision and hearing suitable for a manufacturing environment.

· Availability for a standard 40-hour workweek, with occasional overtime or shifts longer than eight hours.

· Ability to work in an environment where welding smoke and noise may be present within applicable OSHA limits.
