Job Overview

Ventek is seeking a skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Worker to join our growing team. We specialize in commercial and industrial HVAC systems, dust collection systems, custom metal fabrication, gas piping, industrial ventilation projects, and residential HVAC services throughout Southern Ontario.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys a variety of work including shop fabrication, welding, HVAC installation, ductwork, service work, and working on-site at industrial, commercial, and residential locations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical ability, experience with sheet metal fabrication and installation, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.

Responsibilities

– Fabricate and assemble ductwork, fittings, transitions, structural supports, and custom sheet metal components
– Operate fabrication equipment including press brake, shear, plasma table, ironworker, saws, and welding equipment
– Install commercial, industrial, and residential HVAC systems including furnaces, RTUs, make-up air units, exhaust systems, HRVs, gas piping, and dust collection systems
– Perform residential HVAC installations, change-outs, duct modifications, and service work
– Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and field measurements
– Perform field measuring and layout for fabrication and installation projects
– Install and modify spiral duct, welded duct, grease duct, and industrial piping systems
– Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other equipment safely
– Perform welding and fitting of mild steel, galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum components
– Work with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments to ensure quality workmanship
– Assist with equipment rigging, moving, and installation including fans, dust collectors, and rooftop equipment
– Maintain clean and organized work areas both in the shop and on job sites
– Follow all company and site safety requirements at all times

Qualifications

– Experience in sheet metal or HVAC installation
– Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings
– Experience with welding and metal fabrication equipment
– Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
– Experience operating forklifts, aerial lifts, or cranes is an asset
– Valid driver’s license
– Ability to work independently and take direction when needed
– Comfortable working at heights and in industrial, commercial, and residential environments
– Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
– Gas license, welding tickets, working at heights, forklift, or lift certifications are considered assets but not required

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
