Goldsworthy Sheetmetal is looking for an experienced sheetmetal tradesperson to join us in a new role covering estimating, site consultations & measuring and processing customer orders.

This would suit someone with a strong fabrication background who understands how jobs come together in the workshop and wants to apply that knowledge in a primarily office based position. You’ll still get out to site, work through practical challenges and stay closely connected to the trade.

About the role

You’ll help take jobs from the initial enquiry through to workshop ready information, working with customers and our fabrication team to ensure requirements are clear, measurements are accurate and the work is properly priced.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing quotes, estimates and tender submissions.
• Visiting sites to take measurements, assess requirements and confirm job details.
• Producing clear, accurate workshop drawings that our fabricators can work from.
• Coordinating and assisting with dry-fits to check fit and identify any adjustments required.
• Managing customer enquiries and orders, including confirming scope, specifications and timeframes.
• Working closely with the workshop, operating as a project coordinator to resolve questions and ensure jobs are practical to manufacture.
• Identifying material, labour and installation requirements when pricing work.

About you

Ideally, you’ll bring 10 or more years of hands-on sheetmetal fabrication experience and be ready for the next stage of your career.

You’ll need:

• A very strong understanding of sheetmetal fabrication methods, materials and workshop processes.
• The ability to measure accurately on site and turn those measurements into workable fabrication drawings.
• Confidence reading and interpreting drawings, plans and specifications.
• Practical problem-solving skills and a careful eye for detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• The organisation to manage several jobs, follow up outstanding information and meet deadlines.
• Confidence using computers and a willingness to learn the systems needed for the role.
• A full drivers licence.
• A trade qualification in sheetmetal fabrication is desirable but not necessary, happy to consider applicants with time served in the trade.

Previous estimating, quoting, tendering or CAD experience would be an advantage. We’re also interested in hearing from experienced tradespeople who have the practical knowledge and drawing ability, but haven’t previously held a dedicated office-based role.
