About Us
United Infrastructure is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business delivering critical infrastructure projects across the UK. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency and long-term value, we work with clients across the civil, industrial and commercial sectors to deliver high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Following the acquisition of Glenelly, our technical capabilities, geographic reach and depth of expertise have continued to grow. Glenelly brings an established reputation and a highly skilled workforce, strengthening our ability to deliver integrated engineering and infrastructure solutions.
Glenelly Infrastructure Solutions works with regional and national network owners and operators, delivering technical engineering solutions across the electricity grid, including overhead lines, underground cable networks and substations.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team in Kilmarnock.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Health & Safety professional to support our operational teams and help maintain the highest standards of safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) across our projects.
Working closely with the wider business, you will provide practical advice, guidance and support on SHEQ matters, helping ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company policies and our Business Management System (BMS).
Whether you already have experience in a Health & Safety or SHEQ role, or are looking to develop your knowledge and expertise, we can offer training, support and the opportunity to grow your career within a busy infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities
As our Health & Safety Advisor, you will:
- Support the communication and implementation of the company's SHEQ strategy across projects and operational teams.
- Assist with the delivery of internal and external audit programmes, promoting continuous improvement.
- Help ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, company policies and the Business Management System.
- Provide practical SHEQ advice, guidance and support to operational teams and project stakeholders.
- Assist in identifying site-specific SHEQ training needs and support the development of employees.
- Support incident, accident and near-miss investigations, helping identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare, review and contribute to SHEQ reports for management and clients.
- Engage with key stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture and encourage best practice.
- Support the development and upskilling of operational teams in all aspects of SHEQ.
- Promote new initiatives, innovative approaches and continuous improvements across projects.
About You
We are looking for someone who is proactive, approachable and passionate about maintaining safe working environments. You will be comfortable communicating with colleagues at all levels and supporting operational teams to achieve high standards of health, safety and quality.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in a Health & Safety, SHEQ or related role, or relevant experience within a construction or infrastructure environment.
- A NEBOSH General Certificate or a relevant professional qualification, or be actively working towards one.
- Experience in construction, utilities, electricity distribution, DNO or ICP environments (desirable but not essential).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to provide advice and guidance.
- Good analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience reviewing and producing SHEQ reports for managers, clients or other stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to build positive working relationships across operational teams.
- A proactive attitude towards learning, development and continuous improvement.
Don't meet every requirement? If you have a genuine interest in Health & Safety and the right attitude, we would still encourage you to apply. We are committed to supporting the development of our people and helping them build their knowledge and experience.
What We Offer
This is an opportunity to join a growing infrastructure business where safety is a priority and your contribution can make a real difference.
You will gain exposure to a varied range of engineering and infrastructure projects, work alongside experienced professionals and have the opportunity to develop your SHEQ expertise within a supportive team.
As United Infrastructure continues to expand, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our ongoing success, support the development of our safety culture and build your career within the business.
Join Us
At United Infrastructure, we value diversity and celebrate individual differences. We believe an inclusive culture helps us grow as a strong, dynamic and innovative organisation.
If you are passionate about Health & Safety and want to play an important role in supporting the safe delivery of essential infrastructure projects, we would love to hear from you.
