What they need
Shift Leader
One of our largest environmental projects to date is moving into delivery across Missouri. This growth will require more people, greater operational capacity and dependable leaders who can maintain high standards as the project develops.
We are expanding our St. Louis operation and looking for a Shift Leader who can turn daily plans into well-organized, productive shifts. Following your initial training, you will lead teams of approximately 5–10 employees. As the project grows, strong performance could lead to responsibility for coordinating multiple teams totaling 25–30 employees and supporting our planned expansion into a second Missouri market in early 2027.
This is an opportunity to develop beyond day-to-day supervision. You will work closely with the Director of Operations, gaining practical exposure to workforce planning, project performance, operational decision-making and the commercial considerations behind a growing environmental services business.
Position Information
- Pay: $22.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Location: St. Louis, Missouri, with occasional travel to project locations
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours
- Performance bonus: Up to $1,000 per quarter
- Reporting to: Director of Operations
Occasional weekend or extended coverage may be required during major project stages. Wherever possible, this will be scheduled and communicated in advance.
Your Leadership Responsibilities
You will be responsible for keeping your assigned shift organized, informed and working toward the correct operational priorities. This includes:
- Leading daily team briefings and communicating project expectations
- Assigning responsibilities according to workload, deadlines and employee capabilities
- Confirming that employees have the required information, equipment and safety gear
- Monitoring productivity, service quality and schedule progress
- Providing clear instructions and practical support throughout the shift
- Coordinating with Environmental Technicians, Customer Support Associates and project staff
- Responding calmly when schedules, client requirements or operational priorities change
- Reviewing project records and ensuring information is accurate
- Addressing performance concerns directly, fairly and professionally
- Recognizing strong performance and providing constructive feedback
- Escalating technical, environmental or safety matters to the appropriate qualified person
- Reporting shift performance, staffing requirements and project updates to the Director of Operations
The Leadership Style We Value
We are looking for someone who can be trusted to make responsible decisions, whether senior management is present or not. You should be comfortable setting expectations, following up on agreed actions and stepping in when the team needs direction.
A previous management title is helpful but not essential. We will consider leadership ability developed through employment, education, sports or another structured team environment.
You should bring:
- A reliable and consistent approach to work
- Clear, professional communication
- The confidence to guide and motivate different personalities
- Good judgment when making operational decisions
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- A results-focused mindset without compromising safety or quality
- The ability to accept coaching and apply feedback
- A genuine interest in building a long-term leadership career
Previous environmental industry experience is not required. Training will be provided on our services, project procedures, documentation and relevant safety standards.
Development and Progression
Progression will be based on demonstrated performance rather than time served. We will assess your reliability, team results, safety compliance, documentation accuracy, project delivery and readiness for greater responsibility.
Shift Leaders who consistently perform at the required standard may be considered for wider operational leadership responsibilities within St. Louis or future expansion projects. These opportunities may include coordinating several teams, supporting new project launches and progressing toward an Operations Supervisor position.
Benefits and Additional Support
- Quarterly performance bonus of up to $1,000
- Medical, dental and vision insurance
- 401(k) plan with company match
- Paid vacation, sick leave and company holidays
- Company-sponsored environmental and OSHA safety training
- Up to $1,500 annually toward approved leadership development
- Formal compensation and development review after six months
- Mileage reimbursement for authorized project travel
- Covered travel expenses for approved expansion assignments
- Regular coaching with the Director of Operations
If you are ready to lead people, contribute to a major Missouri environmental project and build toward senior operational responsibility, apply through Indeed for our St. Louis Shift Leader position.
