Shift Leader

ShowerBox is a registered charity, providing free, welcoming shower services for people experiencing homelessness and hygiene poverty – offering dignity, care, and a safe space for anyone who needs us. Our Central London project is our busiest – between 60-90 guests have a shower each week. We couldn’t do it without our amazing team of volunteers.

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, experienced, confident and hands-on Shift Leader to work alongside our Central London Service Lead to coordinate and oversee the smooth running of our Central London project based near Tottenham Court Road WC2H. You’ll be responsible for taking the lead on setting up and setting down the Saturday service, including the showers themselves, along with basic trouble shooting of the showers throughout the service. Together with another Shift Leader you will manage & support the volunteer team on shift and be key in supporting our guests and managing any issues that may arise throughout the day. You will ensure a respectful, welcoming experience for all our guests, for two Saturdays per month.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the setup and set-down of the shower service
• Troubleshoot any basic issues that may arise with the showers
• Coordinate and support volunteers on the day
• Ensure health and safety standards are upheld
• Be the main point of contact for guests and volunteers
• Record and provide service delivery data as required
• Respond to any on-site issues with calm and care

Requirements:

• Organised and dependable, with excellent communication skills
• Ability and confidence to think on your feet
• Experience leading a team of approx 10 volunteers each week
• Physically able to assist with setup (lifting, connecting gas/water/power - training provided)
• Experience of safeguarding processes and conflict management
• Alignment with ShowerBox’s values of dignity, respect, and inclusivity
• Experience supporting vulnerable adults e.g due to mental health, substance use, homelessness etc

Preferable experience:

• Full UK driving license preferred
• Certified First Aider
