Shift Manager

Back Deck is seeking a dependable and organized Shift Manager to support daily restaurant operations and help lead the team during assigned shifts. This role involves coordinating staff, maintaining service standards, assisting guests, monitoring workflow, and helping ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations. The ideal candidate has strong communication and leadership skills and is comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily restaurant operations and guest-service activities.
• Coordinate staff assignments and workflow throughout each shift.
• Guide and support servers, hosts, kitchen staff, and other team members.
• Monitor food quality, order accuracy, cleanliness, and customer-service standards.
• Assist with training, onboarding, and coaching new and existing employees.
• Handle routine guest questions, requests, and service concerns professionally.
• Help maintain efficient guest and order flow during busy service periods.
• Support POS operations and routine cash-handling procedures.
• Monitor restaurant supplies and communicate restocking needs.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked dining and service areas.
• Support opening and closing procedures and daily shift checklists.
• Communicate staffing, supply, and operational needs to restaurant management.
• Help resolve routine shift issues and escalate concerns when appropriate.
• Follow food-safety, sanitation, workplace, and company procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, café, hospitality, or food-service experience.
• Previous shift-lead, supervisory, or team-lead experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and customer-service skills.
• Dependable, organized, and comfortable taking responsibility.
• Able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Good attention to service quality, cleanliness, and operational details.
• Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant procedures is helpful.
• Able to support, train, and work effectively with a team.
• Professional and respectful approach to guests and coworkers.
