Shift Manager

The position of Shift Manager has arisen within our Perth depot.

The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing depot operations during their assigned shift, ensuring efficient execution, safety, and compliance. This role ensures that shift – level teams deliver high standards of service in line with wider depot objectives. The Shift manager plays a key role in translating operational plans into daily performance and managing frontline staff to meet business and customer expectations.

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate all aspects of depot operations, including receipt, sorting, dispatch and delivery.
• Lead and oversee the full warehouse shift, ensuring alignment with Operations/Depot managers strategy.
• Work closely with the Operations/Depot Managers to ensure consistent application and support staff to achieve performance targets.
• Manage shifts staffing levels, including holiday planning, absence management and performance evaluations.
• Act as a key point of contact during the shift for transport, planning, customer service and senior management.
• Monitor progress against shift KPIs (e.g. loading accuracy, on-time departures, damages, cubing).
• Address and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimum disruption to our customers contracts.
• Ensure accurate documentation, including freight records, compliance checks and incident reporting.
• Drive a strong health & safety culture within the business.

Requirements:

• Experience in logistics/warehouse operations, ideally in a supervisory role
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Good understanding of depot processes and KPIs
• Ability to solve problems quickly and work under pressure
• Effective communication and organisational skills
• Knowledge of health & safety requirements
• Flexible and reliable with a hands-on approach

Hours

Monday to Friday - 45.5 hours per week, hours to be agreed during the interview.

Pay: £34,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Warehouse management: 3 years (preferred)
