Shift Runner

Job Summary

As a Shift Runner at Papa John’s, you will help lead the store during your shift, making sure everything runs smoothly and our customers receive great service. You will support the Store Manager and team, coordinate daily tasks, maintain high standards of food safety and cleanliness, and help the team deliver orders accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where you will lead by example, support your team and help the store achieve its sales, service and operational targets.

Key Duties

• Lead and support the team during your shift, ensuring everyone knows their responsibilities.
• Coordinate pizza preparation, cooking, order taking, packing and delivery operations.
• Make sure all pizzas and products are prepared to Papa John’s quality standards.
• Monitor orders to ensure they are accurate and completed as quickly as possible.
• Provide excellent customer service and deal with customer queries or complaints professionally.
• Follow and maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Complete opening, closing and daily operational tasks as required.
• Support stock control and help minimise waste and unnecessary costs.
• Train and support new team members, helping them learn Papa John’s procedures and standards.
• Motivate the team and maintain a positive and productive working environment.
• Support the Store Manager with daily operations and achieving store targets.
• Take responsibility for the store and team when the Store Manager or Assistant Manager is not present.

Experience & Skills

• Previous experience in a restaurant, takeaway, hospitality or fast-food environment is desirable.
• Previous team-leading or supervisory experience is preferred, but full training will be provided.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to motivate and support a team.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Reliable, responsible and willing to lead by example.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and busy periods.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
