Shift Supervisor

About the role

The Shift Supervisor will lead their production team in the day-to-day operations to assure maximum production of safe high-quality products in accordance with corporate goals and objectives and global regulations. The purpose of this job is to effectively supervise production shifts and support the manufacture of high purity scientific products for the diagnostic, pharmaceutical, and research markets.

This role is for our C shift which operates Thursday-Saturday and every other Sunday from 5a-5p.

The starting pay for this position is $35 NZD/hr, with an additional $1.50/hr awarded for the C shift premium.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise and coordinate the production process to meet output targets while maintaining quality standards and adhering to safety protocols
• Lead and manage production teams, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and fostering a positive work environment
• Coordinate workflow across production areas to optimize efficiency, minimize downtime, and meet production schedules
• Monitor product quality throughout the production process, conducting inspections and implementing corrective measures as necessary to ensure compliance with quality standards
• Ensure strict adherence to MPI regulations, cGMP regulations, and health and safety regulations and procedures, promoting a culture of safety awareness and overall compliance among production staff
• Oversee inventory levels, including raw materials and finished goods, and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure adequate stock levels and minimize waste
• Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings, and implement relevant initiatives in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
• Generate production reports, including output, efficiency, quality, and other relevant metrics, and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to production staff to enhance their skills, knowledge and job performance
• Address production-related issues and challenges promptly and effectively, implementing solutions to minimize disruptions and downtime

About you

• NZCEA level 2 experience required
• Proven experience in a production supervisory or management role, preferably within the manufacturing industry
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and targets
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
• Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures relevant to the manufacturing industry in New Zealand
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to monitor production processes and make necessary adjustments in scheduling and/or improve production methods/techniques to achieve company goals
• Knowledge and ability to implement and ensure adherence to all safety techniques and procedures related to plant operations
• Ability to hire, train, and evaluate personnel ensuring a competent work force to meet production objectives in a cost-effective manner
