The opportunity!

Based at our successful Christchurch manufacturing plant, we are looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead our afternoon shift, working 2.00pm – 11.00pm, Monday – Friday.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take ownership of the day-today running of the shift, making decisions, solving problems and ensuring our people and production perform safely and efficiently.

Our ideal candidate will have leadership experience, a natural ability to influence and motivate others to do their best everyday as well as be results driven and a hunger to succeed. We are a fast paced made to order business with tight lead times.  You will have a knack for balancing operational commitments and the needs of the customer so that neither is compromised and you will achieve this through the running of a smooth operation.

What you're there to do:

• Take ownership of the day-to-day performance and operation of the afternoon shift
• Lead decision making throughout the entirety of your shift, regardless of labour, machinery and other operational issues
• Drive production throughput, quality and on-time delivery
• Identify and resolve issues quickly
• Lead, coach and develop team members to achieve high performance
• Set clear expectations and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Work collaboratively with other departments and shifts to ensure a smooth end-to-end operation

Skills, characteristics & experience you'll bring:

• 3 years minimum experience of leading a team within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence, motivate the team
• Results focus and a drive to achieve production targets
• The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of outcomes.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved int eh operation
• A trade or degree qualifications in manufacturing or engineering is desirable however not essential
• A continuous improvement mindset, with demonstrated knowledge or experience applying CI principles
