Shipper

Summary:

The Shipper is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and shipment of finished goods, including valves and related components. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet customer deadlines. The Shipper will collaborate with the manufacturing, warehouse, and quality control teams to ensure that products are properly packaged, labeled, and shipped according to customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

Shipping Preparation:

• Review shipping orders and pick lists to ensure the correct valves and components are selected for shipment.

• Inspect finished goods for quality and verify that they meet shipping specifications (e.g., size, weight, material).

• Package products securely, ensuring proper protection during transit (use of foam, shrink wrap, crates, etc.).

• Apply the appropriate shipping labels, including product identification, barcodes, and shipping documentation.

Inventory Management:

• Update inventory records to reflect shipped products.

• Work closely with the warehouse team to track and locate products ready for shipment.

Shipping Documentation:

• Prepare and verify all shipping paperwork, including packing lists, bills of lading, export documentation, and invoices.

• Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, including hazardous materials handling if applicable.

• Coordinate with carriers to arrange pickup and delivery schedules.

Additional Duties:

• Follow all safety and quality procedures to minimize the risk of product damage and ensure timely deliveries.

• Perform routine quality checks to verify that shipped products meet specifications and customer requirements.

• Maintain a clean and organized shipping area to ensure smooth operations.

• Ensure that all equipment (e.g., scales, label printers, forklifts) is functioning properly.

• Perform general warehouse duties as required.

• Assist in the training of new shipping employees.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse role, preferably in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

• Familiarity with shipping software, inventory systems, and barcode scanning equipment preferred.

• Experience with valve or industrial product shipments is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipping orders and documentation.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or as per facility guidelines) and operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Must have the ability to stand, walk, or lift heavy objects for an extended period of time.

• Standard workweek with potential overtime based on shipping schedules and deadlines.
