Shipper/Receiver/Forklift Operator

Position: Shipper and Receiver (Will be a Team Leader after 3 or 6 months – based on performance)

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Forklift & Reach Truck Operator to support warehouse and material-handling operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable working for extended periods in refrigerated, cold-room and freezer environments and be able to safely operate powered material-handling equipment around employees, production activities and other mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks and other authorized powered material-handling equipment.
• Load, unload, move, stage and store pallets, ingredients, packaging materials and finished products.
• Pick and replenish products accurately based on production, warehouse and shipping requirements.
• Transport materials between production, warehouse, cold-room, cooler, freezer and shipping areas.
• Safely place and retrieve pallets from racking using reach equipment.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safe operating practices.
• Perform required pre-operational equipment inspections before use and report defects or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians, blind spots, intersections, doorways, freezer curtains and other mobile equipment.
• Stop, check and proceed only when the travel path is clear, particularly at blind spots and high-traffic areas.
• Adjust driving speed according to floor and environmental conditions.
• Exercise additional caution on wet, slippery or icy surfaces, including areas where condensation or black ice may develop.
• Maintain safe clearance from pedestrians, equipment, racking, walls and products.
• Follow established traffic routes, pedestrian-right-of-way requirements, warning-signalling procedures and site safety rules.
• Ensure loads are stable and properly positioned before travelling or lifting.
• Complete required inventory movements, scanning and related warehouse documentation accurately.
• Maintain good housekeeping and immediately report spills, ice buildup, damaged racking or other hazards.
• Follow all Health & Safety, Food Safety, GMP, sanitation and company policies and procedures.
• Wear all required PPE, including appropriate cold/freezer protective clothing and safety footwear.
• Perform other warehouse and material-handling duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous experience operating a forklift and/or reach truck in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Valid/current forklift and reach truck training/certification, as required by the company.
• Experience working in food manufacturing, refrigerated warehousing or freezer environments is an asset.
• Must be willing and able to work in cold and freezer environments for extended periods, with appropriate PPE and scheduled warm-up arrangements as applicable.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong awareness of pedestrian and mobile-equipment safety.
• Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures and warehouse processes.
• Ability to lift, move and handle materials within the physical requirements of the position.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends or changing operational schedules when required.

Work Environment

This position involves working in a food processing and warehouse environment, including refrigerated areas, cold rooms and freezers. Employees may encounter cold temperatures, wet floors, condensation, freezer curtains, slippery surfaces, ice/black ice, pedestrian traffic and moving equipment.

The operator is expected to maintain a high level of safety awareness at all times and must not compromise safe operating practices for production speed or operational urgency.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
