Shipping Operations Assistant

This is a casual position with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate. Full on-the-job training is provided, making this an excellent opportunity for people from operational, manufacturing, logistics, maritime, industrial, trade or technical backgrounds.

Role

Working as part of our Shipping Operations team, you'll play a key role in the safe and efficient handling of fuel shipments (Discharging & Refuelling). Duties may include:

• Compound Attendant
• Wharf Attendant
• Pipe Line Patrolling (Line Walking)
• SETA Flash Lab Assistant
• Other Shipping and Terminal Operational duties as directed by the Shore Officer.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and contribute to a "Safety First" culture.
• Carry out shipping and Terminal operational procedures safely, efficiently and in accordance with site requirements.
• Perform monitoring, sampling and testing of fuel products and associated equipment.
• Complete line walks, wharf and compound duties to support safe vessel loading and unloading operations.
• Assist with laboratory testing and product quality activities as required.
• Perform routine maintenance, housekeeping and general operational support across terminal facilities.
• Work collaboratively with the Shipping Coordinator and wider operations team to ensure safe and efficient shipping activities.

• Follows instructions easily

• Is willing to learn and undertake comprehensive on-the-job training.

• Holding a current MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) is advantageous but not essential

• Willing to work shift work and on weekends

• To be successful in this role you will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, good communication skills with a positive and flexible attitude
