At Van Oord, you won't just keep systems running. You'll work on board state-of-the-art dredging vessels operating on complex projects around the world. As an Allround Shipselectrician, you make sure our electrical systems are safe, reliable and ready for the future.
THE POSITION
As an Allround Ship Electronic Engineer, you are responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the vessel's electrical and electronic installations. You ensure that electrical systems function according to operational requirements, procedures, and regulations. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, Engineers and Technical Superintendents, you plan and execute maintenance and ensure that the ship’s administration is up to date and compliant with Van Oord standards.
YOUR IMPACT
As an Allround Shipselectrician, you contribute to safe and efficient operations by proactively identifying technical risks, performing both preventive and corrective maintenance and coordinating repairs, source parts, and implementing system upgrades.
Through diagnostics, maintenance planning, and coordination with other teams, you help maintain compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements. Your responsibilities include:
- Engage with suppliers, original equipment manufacturers and other relevant teams;
- Maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of electrical systems, including PLCs, drive systems and networks up to 6kV;
- Support technical documentation, logbooks and toolbox meetings;
- Contribute to safety on board through drills, inspections and compliance with regulations;
- Explore or deepen your knowledge of automation, electrical drives, and shipboard systems.
YOUR WORKPLACE
At Van Oord, you become part of a close-knit international crew operating some of the most innovative vessels in the dredging industry. You will be supported by experienced collogues who are committed to helping you develop your career, expand your responsibilities, and prepare for future promotions. Our vessels combine advanced technology, professional standards and strong teamwork, creating an environment where you can continue to grow as a professional.
ABOUT YOU
You are hands-on, committed to safety, and motivated to build a long-term maritime career. You communicate effectively, work well within a team, and take ownership of your work. In addition, you have:
- An intermediate or higher vocational qualification in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, and preferably a seaman's book, valid medical certificate and STCW Basic Safety;
- At least 3 years of experience as a First Electrician or similar role, ideally in maritime or industrial automation;
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, network systems and remote connection technologies;
- Familiarity with communication, survey and navigation systems, and optionally with dredge control systems or LNG as fuel;
- An ETO license is a plus, but not a must.

- Attractive rotation schedules;
- Training and development opportunities;
