Job Summary

Duties

• Provide accurate interpretation services in various formats including consecutive, simultaneous, and over-the-phone interpretation across multiple languages.
• Translate written documents, reports, and communications with precision and cultural sensitivity.
• Facilitate communication between bilingual or multilingual individuals in professional settings, ensuring clarity and mutual understanding.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to professional ethics during all interpretation and translation activities.
• Assist with educational or specialized interpretation needs, such as medical or legal contexts, demonstrating expertise in relevant terminology.
• Develop cultural competency by understanding the nuances of different languages and cultures to enhance communication effectiveness.
• Support American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation when required, ensuring accessibility for deaf or hard-of-hearing clients or colleagues.

Experience

• Proven experience as an interpreter or translator in diverse environments such as healthcare, legal, corporate, or community settings.
• Multilingual proficiency in English and at least one additional foreign language; fluency in multiple languages is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in interpretation techniques including simultaneous interpretation (real-time translation) and consecutive interpretation (turn-based translation).
• Familiarity with translation tools and software to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Strong communication skills coupled with excellent listening abilities to accurately convey messages across languages.
• Knowledge of linguistic principles, cultural nuances, and professional ethics related to interpretation practices.
• Experience with over-the-phone interpretation services and understanding of telecommunication technology used in remote interpreting scenarios.

Pay: $25.59 - $30.82 per hour
