About the Role

Boatworks is looking for a dependable, hard-working, and versatile Yard & Shop Hand to join our team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing things right, isn't afraid of hard physical work, and knows how to keep moving without needing constant supervision.

You’ll be handling everything from moving boats across the lot with a forklift to prepping lower units, packing up orders, and keeping the shop clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment & Lot Management: Safely operate a forklift and yard vehicles to move, maneuver, and park boats around the lot.
• Prep & Sanding Work: Perform hand and power sanding on lower units, outdrives, and components in preparation for paint or rigging.
• Shipping & Crating: Build wooden shipping boxes/crates, packaging orders, secure freight, and handle incoming/outgoing shipments.
• Shop Upkeep & Cleanliness: Keep the shop clean, sweep floors, organize tools, stage inventory, and maintain a safe workspace.
• General Shop Support: Assist mechanics and riggers with heavy lifting, motor mounting, and daily shop tasks as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Forklift Experience: Strong, proven experience operating a forklift safely (especially with oversized/unbalanced loads).
• Strong Work Ethic: Willingness to hustle, work hard, and perform heavy physical labor (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, bending) indoors and outdoors year-round.
• Multitasking Ability: Capable of juggling multiple duties throughout the day and switching tasks as shop priorities change.
• Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using basic carpentry tools (saws, drills, tape measures) for crate building and surface prep tools for sanding.
• Dependability: Punctual, reliable, and ready to show up every day on time.

Pay & Benefits

• Pay Rate: $20/ hour + Per Unit Pay
• Hours: Full-Time (Monday – Friday) Sat 9-12

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
