Shop Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Shop Assistant to support daily operations in our equipment dealership and service shop. This role includes assembling new equipment, operating a forklift to unload deliveries, maintaining inventory, sharpening mower and chainsaw blades, performing light-duty mechanical work, assisting technicians, and keeping the shop and yard clean and organized. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-minded, and takes pride in quality workmanship and a well-run shop.

Responsibilities

• Assemble new equipment according to manufacturer specifications
• Operate a forklift to unload trucks and move equipment safely
• Unload incoming shipments and whole goods deliveries
• Load equipment for customer pickups and deliveries
• Sharpen mower blades and chainsaw blades accurately and safely
• Perform light-duty mechanical tasks and basic equipment service
• Maintain accurate inventory of whole goods and shop equipment
• Organize equipment in the shop and yard
• Keep the shop, lot, and work areas clean and orderly
• Assist service technicians as needed
• Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Forklift experience preferred (training may be provided)
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand and power tools
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
• Prior experience with lawn equipment, power equipment, or shop work is a plus, but not required
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test

Schedule & Pay

• Full-time position
• Tuesday–Saturday schedule (closed Sunday & Monday; occasional extended hours during peak season)
• Pay based on experience
