SHOP ASSISTANT

Salary: R6,000 – R8,000 per month

We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate should be comfortable handling cash, assisting customers, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Cashier Duties: Process customer transactions accurately and handle cash, card payments, and other payment methods.
• Cash-Up: Perform daily cash-ups, reconcile cash received against sales records, and report any discrepancies.
• Customer Service: Assist customers with product enquiries, provide friendly service, and help them find the items they need.
• Restocking Shelves: Replenish shelves and ensure products are neatly arranged and properly displayed.
• Stock Monitoring: Regularly check stock levels, identify missing or low-stock items, and report shortages to management.
• Stock Control: Help ensure products are accounted for and that missing, damaged, or misplaced items are reported promptly.
• Shop Maintenance: Keep the shop clean, organised, and presentable throughout the day.
• General Assistance: Support management with daily shop operations and other reasonable duties as required.

Requirements

• Previous retail or cashier experience is an advantage.
• Honest, trustworthy, and comfortable handling money.
• Good attention to detail, especially when counting cash and checking stock.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required.
• Organised and proactive in identifying problems and reporting them to management.
• Willingness to work as part of a team.

Salary

R6,000 – R8,000 per month, depending on experience and suitability for the role.
