Shop Assistant / General Labourer

Job Summary:

United Centrifuge MFG Inc. is a manufacturing and service company seeking a motivated, reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a General Labourer / Shop Assistant.

This is a versatile, hands-on position involving various areas of our shop, including manufacturing, equipment repairs, shipping and receiving, and general shop operations.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who takes initiative, has a strong work ethic and is willing to assist wherever needed. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, resourceful, safety-conscious, dependable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience in an industrial environment is considered an asset. Experience with welding, fabrication, mechanical work or equipment operation would be beneficial but not required. Training will be provided for job-specific tasks.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Duties will vary based on daily shop requirements and may include:

· Operate forklifts to safely load and unload materials, parts & equipment

· Assist with shipping and receiving. Loading and unloading trucks; securing & positioning equipment for transport

· Maintain shop cleanliness, organization and general upkeep. Perform inspections

· Assist mechanics, welders and machinists with shop tasks as required.

· Clean, prepare and handle parts and equipment.

· Perform cutting, drilling, tapping and grinding tasks as trained.

· Safely operate hand and power tools.

· Assist with general manufacturing, assembly and repair-related tasks.

· Perform other shop duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Strong work ethic & shows initiative

· Reliable, punctual and dependable.

· Mechanically inclined with an aptitude for hands-on work.

· Able to recognize tasks that need attention and take initiative.

· Willing to assist in various areas of the shop.

· Able to follow instructions, work safely and pay attention to detail.

· Comfortable using hand and power tools.

· Forklift experience is strongly preferred.

· Able to perform physical work in a manufacturing environment.

· Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety & safe work practices.
