What they need
Job Summary
Full-time, hourly · Blaine, MN (on-site) · Reports to the Head of Production
You'll build Triple20's exhibits from the shop floor to the loading dock. Part of your week is custom fabrication: carpentry, finish work, and modifying beMatrix systems to do what a design needs. The rest is the production work that gets every show out the door right: assembly, graphics prep, packing, crating, and checking exhibits back in. Both halves matter here. A perfect counter in a dirty, overpacked crate isn't a job well done.
In a typical week, about 60% of your time goes to fabrication and 40% to production. That shifts with the show season, as far as 80/20 in either direction.
What you'll do
Fabricate and modify
- Build custom elements: counters, kiosks, casework, shelving and product displays.
- Work in wood, laminate, acrylic, aluminum and other sheet goods.
- Modify beMatrix frames and infills to integrate custom pieces, lighting and AV mounts.
- Repair and refresh client exhibits between shows.
- Build from shop drawings, and flag problems to designers and detailers before the build starts.
Produce and ship
- Assemble and test beMatrix frames and exhibit components.
- Prep graphics, including fabric (SEG) graphics, and match them to their frames.
- Pull, pack and crate exhibits against packing lists. Every crate gets vacuumed.
- Unpack, clean, inspect and repair exhibits when they come back from shows.
- Keep client property and inventory organized, labeled and tracked.
- Load and unload trucks, and handle inbound and outbound shipments.
- Support local installs and dismantles when a show needs it.
Keep the shop running
- Maintain tools and equipment, and keep the shop clean, organized and safe.
- Track materials and hardware, and flag what needs ordering.
- Look for ways to cut waste and reuse materials. Sustainability is part of how we're measured.
What you bring
- 3+ years of carpentry, cabinetry, millwork, exhibit, scenic or custom fabrication experience.
- Framing, finish and trim skills, and confidence building from drawings.
- Skilled with table and panel saws, routers, laminate and finishing work.
- Pride in the craft and in the work around it. Sub-assembly, packing and sweeping are part of the job, not beneath it.
- An eye for detail. You notice a scuff, a missing part or a crooked panel.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet all day.
- Valid driver's license.
Nice to have: beMatrix or other modular exhibit systems, CNC, basic metalwork or welding, low-voltage LED lighting, forklift certification, trade show installation.
Pay and schedule
- $25–34/hr, depending on experience.
- Monday–Friday, day shift, in our Blaine shop. Travel for out-of-town installs is rare, likely once or twice a year. Some overtime in peak show season.
- $1,000 a year for your professional development, growing with tenure.
- Benefits: unlimited PTO, health, dental and vision insurance, and a 401(k) with a 4% company match.
