Shop Hand – Assistant

We are seeking an ambitious and dependable Shop Hand to join our team. This is a hands-on position involving the maintenance, repair, and servicing of both heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles and equipment, as well as general shop maintenance and fabrication work.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with tools and equipment, and willing to handle a variety of tasks throughout the shop. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works safely, and is willing to learn and take on new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles and equipment
• Perform welding and fabrication work on dumpsters, containers, equipment, and other company assets
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, including inspections, fluid changes, lubrication, and general service work
• Repair and modify metal components as needed
• Prep and paint dumpsters, containers, vehicles, and equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area
• Clean tools, equipment, floors, workbenches, and shop areas
• Assist mechanics and other shop personnel with repairs and projects
• Move equipment, parts, materials, and supplies throughout the shop
• Perform general shop maintenance and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn on a variety of vehicles and equipment
• Experience with automotive, welding, fabrication, or mechanical repair.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
• Welding and fabrication experience is preferred
• Ability to lift and move heavy parts, tools, and materials
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail
• Dependable and able to report to work consistently and on time
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Willingness to learn new skills and take direction
• Valid driver's license preferred

This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with their hands and has the ambition to grow and/or learn a variety of tasks. Duties can range from helping diagnose a truck or piece of equipment to welding a dumpster, painting equipment, cleaning machinery, and keeping the shop organized.

Experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong mechanical ability and a willingness to learn.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
