Shop Helper / Welding Assistant

Andres Welding & Machining is looking for a reliable, hardworking individual to join our team as a Shop Helper / Welding Assistant.

This is a hands-on position supporting our welders, machinists, and other shop personnel with daily operations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and is willing to learn.

Previous welding or fabrication experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an interest in learning new skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist welders and machinists with daily shop tasks and projects.
• Prepare materials, parts, and equipment for welding and fabrication.
• Perform basic grinding, sanding, deburring, and general metal preparation.
• Clean and prepare components before and after welding.
• Assist with moving, organizing, and handling materials and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Assist with receiving, packaging, and preparing completed jobs for shipment.
• Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and instructions.
• Perform other general shop duties as required.

Qualifications

• Previous welding, machining, fabrication, or industrial shop experience is preferred but not required.
• Basic familiarity with hand and power tools is preferred.
• Mechanically inclined with an interest in learning new skills.
• Able to perform physical work, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy (sometimes 50lb+) materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
• Willingness to follow instructions and maintain a safe working environment.
• Ability to work independently once trained.
• Must be fluent in English, with strong verbal communication skills and the ability to understand and follow workplace instructions and safety procedures.

Tuesday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
