Mar-Vel Tool is an established precision machining and tooling company located in Dayton, Ohio. We specialize in CNC machining, large-component machining, custom tooling, and repair work.

We are looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as a Shop Maintenance & General Support Technician.

This is a hands-on, versatile position involving facility cleaning, general shop upkeep, local deliveries, basic machine maintenance, shipping and receiving, and other day-to-day support activities.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, mechanically inclined, and willing to take on a variety of tasks to help keep our facility running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Cleaning & Upkeep

• Clean and maintain office areas, bathrooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
• Empty garbage and recycling containers.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
• Keep shop areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary clutter.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
• Assist with general building upkeep and minor repairs.

Basic Machine Maintenance

• Perform routine machine lubrication and greasing according to maintenance schedules.
• Check, maintain, and replenish machine coolant levels and concentrations as directed.
• Assist with routine preventative maintenance on shop equipment.
• Clean machines and surrounding work areas.
• Inspect equipment for visible leaks, damage, or unusual operating conditions and report concerns to management.
• Assist experienced maintenance personnel with basic tasks when required.
• Maintain records of completed preventative maintenance activities.

Shipping, Receiving & Deliveries

• Receive incoming materials, tooling, supplies, and customer parts.
• Check incoming deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders.
• Organize and properly store received materials.
• Package and prepare finished components and materials for shipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
• Perform local pickups and deliveries to customers and suppliers using company vehicles.
• Maintain accurate shipping and receiving paperwork.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.

Vehicle & General Maintenance

• Perform basic inspections and upkeep of company vehicles.
• Check fluid levels, tire pressures, and general vehicle condition.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance or repair requirements.
• Assist with minor building and facility repairs.
• Support general shop maintenance activities as needed.

General Shop Support

• Assist machinists and shop personnel with moving materials and organizing work areas.
• Help maintain an orderly and safe working environment.
• Identify maintenance or housekeeping needs and take initiative to address them.
• Perform other general duties as assigned by shop management.

Required Qualifications

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to perform general cleaning, maintenance, and shop support duties.
• Comfortable working in an industrial machine shop environment.
• Ability to safely handle cleaning supplies, lubricants, and machine coolants.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for company vehicle use.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to perform physically active work, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
• Basic knowledge of machine lubrication, coolant maintenance, and preventative maintenance.
• Experience with shipping and receiving procedures.
• Forklift experience.
• Experience performing basic vehicle and facility maintenance.

Previous machine shop experience is an asset but not required. We are willing to train the right individual who has a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

Work Schedule

Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Additional hours may be required based on workload and operational needs.
