Position Overview

The Shop Support Technician plays a key role in keeping shop operations running smoothly by assisting lead technicians and mechanics with daily tasks. This position supports repairs, maintains shop organization, and ensures tools, equipment, and parts are readily available. It’s an excellent entry point for individuals looking to grow into a heavy-duty or diesel technician role.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with basic maintenance and repair tasks on heavy-duty trucks and equipment
• Prepare work areas, tools, and materials needed for jobs
• Move vehicles and equipment in and out of the shop safely
• Perform routine tasks such as fluid checks, tire inspections, and preventive maintenance support
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, yard, and workstations
• Manage parts, supplies, and inventory (receive, label, stock, and distribute)
• Operate shop equipment such as forklifts or service trucks (if qualified)
• Dispose of waste materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
• Support technicians and leadership with additional tasks as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic mechanical knowledge or strong interest in heavy-duty/diesel repair
• Ability to use hand tools and shop equipment safely
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license

Work Environment

• Physically demanding role (lifting, standing, bending, working around heavy equipment)
• Exposure to noise, grease, and outdoor weather conditions
• May require overtime or weekend work based on shop needs
