What they need

We're not your average fabrication workshop.

At Traction Studio, we make displays and custom structures that are used for brand activations, pop-up experiences and events for some of the world's biggest brands. Brands and agencies bring us their big ideas, and we bring the craftsmanship to make them real.

Instead of building joinery for homes or commercial fitouts, we build joinery for the marketing industry.

Since 2010, we've built over a thousand projects and we're on a strong growth trajectory. We're now looking for an experienced Shopfitter to take custom structures from drawings through to install and removal.

About You

You can read and interpret plans, drawings and cutting lists, and you know what "right" looks like before you pick up a tool.

You've got hands-on experience working with timber, steel, aluminium, acrylics and foams, and you're confident using tablesaws and drop saws.

You work to precise measurements, don't miss the details, and have experience leading or supporting a small team of up to around five people.

You're comfortable liaising with clients in the workshop and onsite, and you take ownership of your work from start to finish.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and cutting lists
  • Understanding project details handed to you by the Production Manager
  • Supporting trade assistants and working safely
  • Using plant machinery and hand tools to build our projects
  • Contributing to brainstorming and construction method meetings
  • Liaising with clients in the workshop and onsite
  • Carrying out quality control before handover
  • Delivering, installing and removing projects
  • Travelling interstate occasionally

What You'll Need

  • Solid experience working with timber, steel, aluminium, acrylics and foams
  • Ability to read plans and drawings accurately
  • Experience using woodworking machinery and hand tools
  • Strong understanding of fabrication techniques
  • Precision and consistency with measurements
  • Experience leading or supporting a small team of up to around five people
  • Clear communication and a team-first attitude

You'll Love This Role If You...

You take pride in a high-quality finish, enjoy variety, want to work on standout builds for major brands, and are ready to lead and grow with a business on a strong growth trajectory.

Screening Questions

  • Are you legally authorised to work in Australia?
  • How many years of experience do you have as a joiner or cabinet maker?
  • Do you have experience using plant machinery and hand tools?
  • Have you led or supported a small team of up to around five people on a project before?
  • Are you able and willing to travel interstate occasionally for work?
  • Are you available to start immediately, or what is your notice period?
