Shop/Yard Hand

Overview

Charlie’s Charters is seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Shop/Yard Hand to support our maintenance and operations team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized repair facility and yard while assisting with the upkeep of a fleet of charter buses. The successful candidate will perform a variety of shop, yard, and basic maintenance duties to help ensure our vehicles remain in excellent condition and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop, parts room, storage areas, and yard. Ensure the yard remains safe, presentable, and free of hazards.

• Assist with inventory management and stocking of maintenance supplies. Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and equipment.

• Perform seasonal yard maintenance, including snow removal, leveling, and general grounds upkeep.

• Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks on buses and company vehicles such as:

• Replacing headlights, marker lights, wiper blades, mirrors, and other minor components.

• Installing and maintaining onboard equipment such as dash cameras, GPS units, radios, etc.

• Assisting licensed mechanics with repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance activities.

• Occasional cleaning/detailing of buses in emergency situations.

• Move buses and vehicles within the yard as required.

• Assist with shop projects and facility improvements.

• Maintain accurate records of completed tasks when required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools, operate a forklift, etc.
• Valid driver’s license (air brake endorsement not required but considered a valuable asset).

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
