Short Order Cook

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Short Order Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of quick-serve meals in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role requires strong food preparation skills, attention to food safety, and excellent serving and food handling abilities. The Short Order Cook will play a vital part in delivering high-quality meals promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.

Duties

• Prepare and cook menu items quickly and accurately according to established recipes and standards
• Handle food preparation tasks including chopping, assembling, and portioning ingredients
• Cook a variety of dishes such as sandwiches, breakfast items, burgers, and other quick-serve foods
• Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Serve food to customers efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
• Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure freshness

Skills

• Proven experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments with a focus on meal preparation and cooking
• Strong understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
• Excellent serving skills with the ability to deliver prompt, friendly service to customers
• Knowledge of food industry best practices related to quick-service meal preparation
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
• Good communication skills and teamwork orientation
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment used for short order cooking such as grills, fryers, and ovens
