Short-Term Power Trader

A growing energy business is strengthening its Front Office trading capability, and is seeking an experienced Power Trader with a strong quantitative mindset.

The role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on short-term power trading and asset optimisation with the development of the models, algorithms and technology infrastructure supporting the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Trading and optimising positions across Italian day-ahead, intraday, XBID and balancing markets
• Optimise renewable generation and battery storage assets to maximise portfolio value and manage short-term market exposure
• Working closely with quantitative and technology teams to develop systematic trading and optimisation strategies
• Co-developing algorithms for renewable dispatch, BESS arbitrage and portfolio optimisation
• Analyse market fundamentals, generation forecasts, demand, weather and price signals to identify and capture short-term opportunities
• Monitor trading and model performance, identifying areas for continuous improvement

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ Front Office power trading experience
• Strong knowledge of the Italian or European SPOT power markets
• A strong quantitative approach, with exposure to systematic/algo strategies
• Programming experience, ideally in Python or R
• Exposure to BESS optimisation or renewable dispatch would be highly advantageous
