WasteCo is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Sidelifter Truck Driver to join our Invercargill Solid Waste Team. If you enjoy operating machinery, working independently, and taking pride in delivering excellent customer service, we'd love to hear from you.

This role involves operating a sidelifter truck to collect kerbside refuse and recyclable materials while ensuring safe, efficient and professional service to our customers.

About the Role

Reporting to the Solid Waste Manager, you will be responsible for collecting and transporting waste and recyclable materials safely and efficiently throughout the Invercargill region.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Operating a sidelifter truck safely and efficiently.
• Collecting kerbside refuse and recycling.
• Completing daily pre-start vehicle checks and logbook entries.
• Following designated transport routes.
• Loading and unloading materials safely.
• Completing customer site inductions and complying with site requirements.
• Maintaining accurate paperwork and records.
• Liaising with customers and providing excellent service.
• Reporting incidents, hazards and vehicle defects promptly.
• Attending toolbox meetings and contributing to a strong safety culture.
• Assisting at transfer stations and carrying out additional duties as required.

What You'll Bring

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• A current Class 4 Licence.
• W, T and R endorsements (preferred but not essential).
• Previous driving or waste industry experience (preferred but not essential).
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• A positive, reliable and team-focused attitude.
• The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
